HP 912XL B Black Ink Cartridge
Compatible and remanufactured cartridges are not made or endorsed by the printer manufacturer. What the types mean
HP 912XL B Black Ink Cartridge: a black ink cartridge for OfficeJet Pro 8010 and 8020.
Inkjet cartridges by number and by printer, with yields to the ISO standard rather than a made up figure. On inkjets the high capacity XL version is almost always cheaper per page than the standard one, and the gap is usually large.

Yields warranties and firmware
Page yields are the manufacturer's published figures measured to ISO 19752 for mono toner, ISO 19798 for colour toner and ISO 24711 for inkjet, all at five per cent coverage of an A4 page. Five per cent is about a short letter. If you print dense reports, graphics or photographs you will get materially fewer pages, and the honest way to compare two cartridges is the cost per page at the same standard rather than the price on the box. Cost per page is the whole argument in this trade. A cheap printer with expensive cartridges costs far more over three years than a dearer one with high yield cartridges, and the gap is usually several times the hardware difference. Every listing here publishes pence per page for every option we sell for that cartridge. Compatible and remanufactured cartridges do not void your printer warranty in the UK. Under the Consumer Rights Act a manufacturer cannot refuse a warranty repair simply because you used a third party consumable; they would have to show that the consumable caused the fault. If a cartridge from us does damage a printer we will pay for the repair, and we say that in writing. Firmware updates on some machines block third party chips. We track which models do it, we tell you on the listing, and we supply the firmware guidance with the order. If a cartridge stops working after an update we replace it with a version that works or refund it. Remanufacturing a cartridge uses a fraction of the material and energy of making a new one, so please pass your empties to a cartridge recycling scheme rather than putting them in landfill. Yields and part numbers on this listing are cross checked against the manufacturer's current datasheet before dispatch, because manufacturers revise both. Tell us your printer model and we confirm the exact cartridge for it.
Which option to buy
Genuine is the manufacturer's own cartridge in its own box. The safe choice for a machine under warranty or on a lease, and the dearest per page. OEM Equivalent is a new compatible cartridge built to the same specification by an independent maker, never refilled, typically 45 to 60 per cent cheaper per page. We sell genuine, new compatible and remanufactured consumables side by side and publish the page yield and the cost per page for each one, so the comparison is on the number that actually decides the bill. Nothing here is a refill kit and nothing is sold without a yield figure.
